Navteq produces mapping and location data for car navigation systems, internet applications and portable and wireless devices. Various car manufacturers and GPS providers use the company's map data to power navigation systems. This content is typically provided on SD (Secure Digital) cards. If your car’s navigation system does not come with unlimited SD use out of the box, data will only work for the first 600 miles. You will then need to activate and unlock the card for unlimited use.

Tips and warnings

  • You may not need to follow these instructions each time you add a new map coverage area or map to the system. Keep a note of your serial number, serial code and activation code in case you need them again.
  • The Navteq SD card is not designed for general media storage. If you use it in other devices or try to add other data, such as music, photos or maps from other systems, it may stop working.
