How to import Tumblr content on Facebook pages

Tumblr is a blogging site and social networking platform that allows users to post messages and pictures, as well as customise their blog. Between its foundation in 2007 and 2013 it has hosted more than 90 million separate blogs. Tumblr can also be synched with other websites and social media platforms, such as Facebook. Importing content from your Tumblr site into your Facebook page is simple.

    Navigate to Use your email address and password to sign into your account.

    Click on the “Settings” button at the top of the dashboard. Select the name of the Tumblr blog you wish to link with Facebook from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

    Scroll down to the “Facebook” heading. Click the box next to “Share posts on your Timeline” so that it is highlighted with a tick.

    Navigate to Facebook. Use your email address and password to sign into your account.

    Click on “Settings” in the top menu bar and select “Account Settings.” Choose “Apps” from the left-hand menu.

    Scroll to the "Tumblr" heading and click on the “Go to app” button. Click “Allow” when prompted to allow the app to communicate with your Facebook page. In the prompt box, enter the URL of your Tumblr blog. Click on “Start Importing this Blog.”

    Select “Allow” when prompted to give the Tumblr Facebook app permission to import content from your Tumblr page. The content will appear in your timeline, with a link to the original Tumblr post.

Tips and warnings

  • To stop importing content automatically, log in to your Tumblr account and uncheck the box next to “Share posts on your timeline.” Alternatively, remove the Tumblr app from your Facebook page. Navigate to apps, find the Tumblr listing and click on “Remove.”
