Volvo S80 Turbo Problems

Updated July 20, 2017

The Volvo S80 Turbo is a luxury car with a high performance engine. The S80 comes equipped with either the twin-turbo or turbo-diesel engine. It is available with an automatic or manual transmission.

Facts on Volvo S80 Turbo

The Volvo S80 has a few T-models, the S80 T4 which has 180 horsepower and the S80 T5 which has 240 horsepower. These cars have a four-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine. Those turbocharged cars do not have the power however as that of the S80 T6, which has 268 horsepower.

The Volvo S80 T-models are prone to a range of problems, from the suspension to the computer and electrical problems, especially on the older cars. There are complaints about the dashboard lighting panels turning on for various instruments, such as for the anti-lock braking system (ABS), stability and traction control (STC) and engine. These electrical problems with warning lights going on have caused Volvo buyers questioning if there are in fact any problems.

Many of the problems with the Volvo S80 Turbo cars have been with ABS/STC system. If there is a fault with the ABS pump warning that it has high pressure, consider having the ABS pump/module rebuilt or replaced.
