The Sony MDX-C6500R radio is an aftermarket minidisc player option for your car. Common problems with the radio include no or low sound, inoperative control buttons and poor radio reception.

No or Low Sound

Sound problems are often caused by improper volume settings. The first step to fixing the sound is to rotate the volume dial on the left side of the face of the Sony MDX-C6500R to the right or press the "Volume +" button on the remote control. Press the "ATT" button on the top of the rotary dial or on the remote control to turn off sound attenuation, which mutes the speakers.

Control Buttons Inoperative

When the control buttons do not respond to your button presses, you need to reset the unit. Press the face release button on the top right corner of the Sony MDX-C6500R and pull it off the radio unit. Insert the tip of a pen into the "Reset" hole in the lower left corner of the unit to reset the radio.

Poor Radio Reception

Poor radio reception is often caused by obstructions, such as large buildings, and are usually fixed by continuing to travel. You can increase reception by placing the radio in monaural mode. To set monaural mode, press "Menu" and then "Seek/AMS +" until "Mono-On" shows in the display.
