The Ford 2.9-litre V-6 engine belongs to the Cologne family of Ford engines. The engine family was named Cologne because the units were manufactured in Cologne, Germany. The 2.9-litre V-6 engine has been featured on the Ford Ranger and the Ford Bronco.

Valve Cover Specifications

The valve cover was tightened to a seat angle degree of 45 and a face angle degree of 44. The spring test pressure was tightened with 143 foot-lbs. of torque at 1.22 inches. The spring was installed at a height of 1.58 to 1.61 inches.

Valve Specifications

The stem-to-guide clearance for the intake valve was .0008 to .0025 inch, while the clearance for the exhaust valve was .0018 to.0035 inch. The stem diameter for the intake valve was 0.3159 to 0.3167 inch and the diameter for the exhaust valve was 0.3149 to 0.3156 inch.

Intake and Exhaust Manifold Specifications

The intake manifold had five steps of torque. The first step had 3 to 6 foot-lbs. of torque, the second had 6 to 11, the third had 11 to 15 and the fourth had 15 to 18 foot-lbs. of torque. The fifth step used 15 to 18 foot-lbs. of torque. The exhaust manifold had 20 to 30 foot-lbs. of torque.
