How to Restore a Toshiba L300

Updated July 19, 2017

Toshiba Satellite L300 laptops are manufactured with a partition on the hard drive containing a recovery file. The recovery file will restore your laptop to factory default settings.

Pre-purchase Condition

The recovery file restores your L300 laptop to factory default settings and restores your laptop to pre-purchase condition. To restore, the laptop should be "off." Hold the "0" key while powering on the laptop, which will initiate the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard." Select the "Recovery of Factory Default Software" option, then click "Next." Select the "Recover to out-of-box state" option, then click "Next." When the recovery process is complete, restart your laptop.

Erase Hard Disc

Be aware that running the recovery file will erase the hard disc completely. Any data you have stored on your L300 laptop will be erased and gone forever. Save your data on an external hard drive before running the recovery file.

Restore Drivers and Applications

The "Toshiba Application Installer" restores your L300 laptop's originally bundled drivers and applications. Double-click the "Toshiba Application Installer icon" located on your desktop. Click "Next" on the wizard, click the items you want to restore, then click "Install." Continue to follow the prompts to complete the reinstall process.
