In the United Kingdom, interior design is considered to be a field of study equal to that of its peers within the realm of fine arts. Traditional Bachelor of Arts programs last three years, but in response to a growing number of non-traditional students, several institutions have started to revamp their programs. New part-time diploma and certificate programs as well as master's degree programs cater to students with careers, families and other obligations.
KLC School of Design
The KLC School of Design is located in central London, next to the renowned Chelsea Harbor Design Center. The school is accredited by both the British Accreditation Council for Further and Higher Education (BAC) and the Open & Distance Learning Quality Council (ODLQC). KLC is known for being the only design school in the UK accredited by both of these bodies. The institution does offer a standard, one-year program leading to the Professional Diploma in Interior Design. However, educational options are flexible, with the Certificate in Interior Design program offered as both a full- and part-time option. The school also boasts a recently completed, state-of-the-art lecture theatre and offers open-learning seminars ranging in length from one day to one week.

Chelsea College of Art & Design
The Chelsea College of Art & Design is a constituent school of the prestigious University of the Arts London. The institute offers both a bachelor's degree and master's degree program in interior design. Chelsea has recently revamped the entire structure of its graduate level program, and, in partnership with Camberwell College of Arts and Wimbledon College of Art, the three institutions have created a unique program for the interior design graduate student. Research-based courses and traditional design studio courses are integrated with no structural divide between the two, creating a program that is the first of its kind.

The Inchbald is an independent design school located within a five-minute walk of London's picturesque Sloane Square. The school offers both traditional diploma and certificate programs, as well as a master's level program. However, the school is distinctive in that it offers a postgraduate diploma program in interior design that allows college graduates from unrelated fields to gain a diploma in interior design in only one year. In addition, the school has strong connections with sister institutions in both Saudi Arabia and Portugal, both of which offer courses and programs that lead to speciality certificates awarded through Inchbald.
