How to figure out who shared my Facebook posts

Updated April 17, 2017

Facebook's "Share" feature allows users to re-post their friend's quotes or links to their own profile. When you do this, the original poster's name will appear on the re-post as a link to their profile. Facebook notifies you when a friend re-posts one of your updates or links. However, if you want to search for shared links from weeks or months ago, the easiest way is to do a Facebook search for your name.

  1. Log into your Facebook account at facebook.com.

  2. Find the "Search" box at the top of the screen and type a key phrase from the post you want to find. Press the magnifying glass symbol to conduct the search.

  3. Click "Posts by Friends" to the left side of the search results to see which of your friends have re-posted your update or link. For a wider search, try clicking "Posts by everyone." The search results will display a list of people who have re-posted your update or link.

  4. Tip

If too many search results come back, try searching the key phrase and your first name as it appears on your Facebook profile.
