  1. Consult your dermatologist for suggestions. You could cause skin damage if you use products without speaking with a doctor first -- some products may be too harsh for your skin type.

  2. Purchase a fading cream that contains hydroquinone. These products are sold over-the-counter. Make sure to follow the directions that are included in the package and also heed the warnings and precautions.

  3. Wash your face with sour milk. While this sounds unpleasant, the lactic acid will create a peeling effect on your skin that's gentle enough to not cause harm such as irritation or dryness.

  4. Apply lemon juice to the large freckle using your fingers or a cotton ball. Lemon can naturally lighten your skin. Make sure to avoid the sun immediately after application. Onion can do the same thing as lemon.

  5. Wear sun protection. Spending a lot of time in the sun could make your freckles appear even darker and more prominent than they currently do. Protect your skin with sunblock and a hat. The sun is at its peak between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., so this is the most important time frame to protect yourself from its rays.

  6. Take Vitamin C. You can incorporate this into your diet by taking a supplement or eating more oranges, grapes, apples, strawberries, lemons or guava.

  7. Apply Vitamin E oil to the freckle that you'd like to reduce the appearance of. This is probably the gentlest way to lighten an unwanted freckle. While it may take extra time to achieve the desires effect, it won't dry your face out at all.

  8. Tip

If the freckle you want to lighten is not extremely dark, you could see an improvement within two weeks. If your freckle is dark, it could take as long as a month to start seeing a difference.
