IDM CC is the integration module, or add-on, in Firefox for Internet Download Manager. If you no longer need this function, you can get rid of this through the Add-ons Manager in Firefox. Some users report that the IDM CC entry in Add-on Manager is greyed out.
If this is the case for you, try one of the alternative methods listed here.
- Click on “Tools” in the standard menu bar at the top of Firefox.
- Click on the “Extensions” option at the top of the Add-ons screen.
Click on “Tools” in the standard menu bar at the top of Firefox. Select “Add-ons” from this menu. This will open the Add-ons Manager dialogue screen.
Click on the “Extensions” option at the top of the Add-ons screen. Scroll through the add-ons listed to find the entry for IDM CC. When you click on this entry it will expand to show three buttons.
Click on the “Uninstall” button in the expanded IDM CC entry. Confirm the uninstall when prompted. This will remove the add-on. Close down Firefox and reopen it to complete the process.
- Open Firefox in “Safe Mode.” Open Firefox in “Safe Mode” from the desktop if you do not already have it open.
Open Firefox in “Safe Mode.” If you already have Firefox open, Click on “Help” in the menu bar at the top of the Firefox menu and select “Restart with Add-ons disabled.”
Open Firefox in “Safe Mode” from the desktop if you do not already have it open. Hold down the “Shift” key when you double click on the Firefox icon on your desktop.
Click the “Start in Safe Mode” button. This will be available in the “Safe Mode” dialogue window which appears when you elect to start in Safe Mode.
Proceed to the Add-on Manager. Try to uninstall IDM CC as described in Section 1. The program itself may have been blocking the Uninstall button.
- Click on “Help” in the menu bar at the top of the Firefox window.
- In the Folder Options window, click on the “View” tab.
- Double click on that folder.
Click on “Help” in the menu bar at the top of the Firefox window. Select “Troubleshooting Information.” This will open the Troubleshooting tab.
Look in the “Extensions” section of the “Troubleshooting Information” tab. Find the entry for IDM CC and note down the ID listed for its entry.
Click on “File” in the menu bar at the top of Firefox. Click on “Exit” to close the browser.
Open a Windows Explorer for “My Computer. Navigate to “C:\” – “Documents and Settings” – “user”. Click on “Tools” in the menu bar of the Windows Explorer window and select “Folder Options.” In the Folder Options window, click on the “View” tab. In the “Advanced Settings” box click the “Show hidden files and folders” radio button. Press “Apply” and then click the “OK” button.
Select the “Application Data” folder and then click on “Mozilla.” Select the “Firefox” folder, then the “Profiles” folder. In the profiles folder you will see a folder name that has a long code and ends with “.default.” Double click on that folder. In that folder you will see a folder that has the ID code you noted down for IDM CC. Click on that folder once and hit the “Delete” key. Confirm the delete to remove the data for the IDM CC add-on.
