If you long to get rid of that spare tire that's been riding around your midsection for far too long, there are a number of foods that you can eat that will help you to lose belly fat quickly. Belly fat is different than other fats that accumulate on the body, so by consuming certain foods and changing your diet, it is much easier to get it to go away.

Why Belly Fat is Different

The fat that collects in our abdominal region is called visceral fat. This fat surrounds our organs and lies deep beneath the skin surface. Getting rid of visceral fat is important because it is far more likely to cause additional health concerns and increase your chance of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Fortunately, getting rid of visceral fat is often easier than getting rid of subcutaneous fat, which is the fat that lies closer to the skins surface that you can actually grab and pinch. Visceral is broken down much easier by healthy exercise and diet, which is why certain foods are able to remove this belly fat easier than others.

Foods that Remove Belly Fat

The key to finding foods that help you lose belly fat is to find foods that are high in fibre and protein and low in carbohydrates, sugars and fat. Fibre helps to keep your digestive system moving smoothly, and protein helps to fill you up so that you eat less. The less you eat calorie-wise, the faster you will lose weight. Because visceral abdominal fat is easier to lose than subcutaneous fat, your belly fat will be the first thing to go, giving you a flatter looking tummy.

Beans are probably one of the best foods that you can eat to lose belly fat. They are extremely high in fibre and are also packed with protein. For instance, just one regular size can of black beans packs a whopping 25 grams each of protein and fibre.

Eggs are also beneficial in helping you to get rid of your gut. Eggs have got a bad rap in the past for being high in cholesterol, but recent studies have shown that eating eggs is good for your health when eaten in moderation. Eggs are not high in fibre, buy they provide 6 grams of protein per serving, which can help fill you up and slim you down.

Adding fish to your diet also will help with belly fat loss. Fish, such as tuna or salmon, are also high in protein, which will help fill you up, containing between 10 and 20 grams per serving.

Other foods you can eat that are high in fibre and will help with fat loss are cabbage, spinach and apples.
