Cover letters briefly introduce your curriculum vitae (CV), which is similar to a resume. A cover letter should have updated contact information, such as your address, phone numbers, and e-mail. Cover letters should be written in a business letter format with correct spelling and grammar. Use 11- or 12-point font and do not exceed one page. Ideally, you will tailor each cover letter and directly address the letter to the interviewer.

The body section should use action verbs instead of using passive voice. Include sentences that demonstrate your interest while displaying your research into the company. After your prepare the cover letter, spend time doing something else. Then, reread and edit your letter. Avoid careless mistakes as you could quickly destroy your employment prospects with a punctuation or spelling error. Do not begin every sentence with the word "I." If you are not sending the letter electronically, consider investing in professional paper that is a little heavier than ordinary paper. However, choose a simple design and colour. Lastly, legibly sign your cover letter.
