Hi, I'm CarolAnn with cyberworkouts, and here is how to lose belly fat and gain muscle. Well, first of all, to lose that belly fat, you have to really control how many calories you're taking in and really expend a lot of calories. So, calories going out, and that's how you're going to reduce the belly fat. So, you got to make sure that you're lowering the amount of calories that you're taking in, make sure you get whole grains, get some brown rice in there, some whole wheat pasta as examples. You want to get your fruits and your vegetables and lean protein. So, we've got fish, turkey, and chicken. So, your diet is going to be hugely important when you're losing belly fat. Now, to gain muscle, you can work those abdominal muscles. So, I've got some great exercises for you. What you'll need is a stability ball. So come on down on your ball and roll down to where the ball comes to the small of your back. And then you'll place your hands gently behind your head, and simply crunch up. Now, as you're performing this exercise, you want to make sure that you exhale coming up, inhale coming down. Now, what we're working here is what we call the rectus abdominus. This is the muscle where the superficial six-pack area that runs from the sternum down to the pubic bone. So, you want to make sure that you're getting full range of motion here. Exhale up, inhale down. Now, to work the internal external obliques, we have to go at an angle. So, as you're performing these crunches, go to one knee, switch and go to the other knee. And that will really work your obliques. Next, to put it all together. We can do what we call a windmill. And you're going in a big circle, and you're going to really feel this all within that abdominal area. Now to really lose the fat in the area to gain muscle, we've got to lean it out. So, we got to do a lot of reps. Your abdominals are a large muscle group. They can handle it, and you can do 20 to the right and then 20 to the left. The most important thing here is to feel the burn and make sure you're breathing. When you're finished, simply walk back up, and let those abdominals rest.
