Hi my name is Christian with Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop in Austin, Texas, and today I am going to show you how to adjust a BMX brake. Generally the most common problem with BMX bikes is the cable is not adjusted correctly or the cable is actually pulled through. Basically what you would need to solve this problem would be there is one of two ways you can do it. You can use some sort of strap to actually retain the caliper around the tire here. The other option would be a fourth hand tool, and basically this tool simplifies the whole job by basically allowing you to put tension on that cable. The other tool you will generally need is a ten millimeter wrench available at any hardware store or automotive store. And basically you would pull that cable tight, tighten that bolt down, apply the lever make sure everything is functioning properly, brake pads are not rubbing on either side. If they are rubbing on one side or the other there is a adjustment down here that is adjustable via in this application a thirteen millimeter wrench, and a five millimeter Allen wrench. And that is how you adjust a BMX brake.
