Homeowners often rely on wallpaper as a convenient and simple way to add pattern and texture to the walls of a room. Wallpaper is available in a wide array of colours, designs and materials, so it is highly versatile as well. When selecting wallpaper for a girl's bedroom, there are many options available; however, several types of wallpaper stand out as particularly attractive choices.

Floral Pattern

One of the most traditional wallpapers for a girl's bedroom is a floral pattern. It is a versatile wallpaper design because florals can be soft and feminine or bold and funky. As a result, it may work for girls of various ages. For fans of the colour pink, a floral pattern may be an ideal option because pink is often paired with flower-themed wallpaper. A more subtle floral pattern usually works best for a younger girl's room. You can also choose a different pastel shade, such as yellow, lilac or blue, if your little girl does not like pink. Older girls may prefer a bolder floral pattern that contains larger flowers. Floral patterns with bright colours, such as magenta, purple or red, may be a winner with teen girls as well. If you do not want to commit to an entire room covered in wallpaper, floral wallpaper borders are another option for your girl's room. They can add a pop of colour on the top of plain white walls and are easier to remove than whole strips of wallpaper.

Butterflies

Another wallpaper pattern that girls often enjoy is a butterfly design. As with floral patterns, you can find butterfly wallpaper that features a small, subtle pattern or one with a larger, more intense design. Because butterflies come in a variety of colours, you should find butterfly wallpaper in various shades as well. Yellow and purple are usually the most common, so butterfly wallpaper may be a good option for a little girl who does not like pink. Wallpaper borders with butterfly patterns are available as well and can be used to create a look that is more understated than full butterfly wallpaper.

Damask

For an elegant look to your girl's bedroom, use damask wallpaper. This type of wallpaper often has a formal feel, so it may work best for older girls but it can be used in nurseries or toddlers' rooms as well. Damask is a fabric wallpaper with a finely textured pattern embedded in it. It is often made from cotton, linen, silk and wool, so it is usually more expensive than traditional wallpaper. The designs woven into damask wallpaper may include flowers, leaves, fruits or more intricate patterns. Damasks are a very traditional type of pattern, but using the wallpaper in a bold hot pink or purple gives it a modern edge that many teenage girls will enjoy.
