The Acer Aspire L100 is classified as a compact mini PC. The attractive brushed silver casing provides a small footprint for tight spaces and an optional stand to allow vertical placement. Proper ventilation is advised to prevent over heating of this ultra-quiet modern style computer.

Physical Features

The front panel of the Acer Aspire L100 mini computer has ports for Audio Out, MIC, FireWire, Flash Card Reader, 2 USB Ports and a DVD/CD burner. The chassis is 10.1 in. across with a width of 4 in. and is 2.5 in. deep. It weighs only 3.63kg. The rear of the computer has an RJ-45 LAN Port, Wireless Antenna jack and 3 audio jacks. Four additional USB Ports are available. Other ports include DVI and VGA computer screen port.

Operating system

This Acer PC comes with Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2. But it can optionally be installed with XP Professional with Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition (Rollup 2) or Windows Vista. Windows 7 is not supported for the Acer Aspire L100.

Processor

Acer Aspire L100 computers are available with a range of processors. These include the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+ Dual-Core processor, the Athlon™ 64 processor and the AMD Sempron™ processor. The dual-core processor enhances overall performance by up to 80%. That's because it's like having two processors working together. It offers increased productivity because you can, for example, simultaneously play a game and update your database without any stall time. The Athlon 64 provides simultaneous 32-bit and 64-bit processing that allows you to use a range of software on your computer. The Sempron processor is a lower end processor that is still reliable with thousands of single use software applications.

Memory

Memory on the Acer Aspire motherboard is configurable for up to 2 GB of DDR2 533/667MHz DIMM SDRAM. There are two dual-channel memory chips.

DIMMs, or dual in-line memory module, consist of a series of dynamic random access memory used for integrated circuits.

Storage

The Aspire L100 computer comes equipped with either a DVD/CD-RW Combo, DVD Dual, or DVD SuperMulti and a SATA HDD with capacity up to 400GB.

Aspire's optimal working temperature is +5oC ~+35oC while operating the machine and is -10oC ~ +60oC when non-operational. Relative humidity for a running PC is 15% - 80% RH Non-condensing and while stored is 10% - 90% RH, Non-condensing at 40° C. The maximum vibration of the PC while operating it is 5 ~ 16.2Hz: 0.38mm (peak to peak) 16.2 ~ 250Hz; 0.2G and while stored is 5 ~ 27.1Hz: 0.6G 27.1 ~ 50Hz; 0.4mm (peak to peak) 50 ~ 500Hz: 2G.
