When a co-worker leaves the office, you might want to give her a token or gift to say goodbye and thank her for her contribution. Depending on how well you know your co-worker, it can be difficult to come up with gift ideas. Don't worry too much about what it is; the main thing is just to give her something to remember the office by and show her she was appreciated.

Farewell Party

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. Say goodbye to a co-worker by getting the whole office together for a farewell bash. If you work with a small, close-knit group of people, someone can host a party in his home. Otherwise, order a cake and some decorations for an in-office send-off. Another option is to take the office out for a farewell lunch, dinner or happy hour. The important thing is to make time to show your co-worker he is important to the team and will be missed.

Book of Letters

A touching personal gift is a book of letters from coworkers. Ask everyone in the office who knew the departing employee to write a personal note. Bind them together as a book that will serve as a keepsake to remember old office friendships by. Present the book at a farewell gathering or on the last day of work.

Moving On Gifts

Find out something about your co-worker's plans and give a gift that will prove useful in her future endeavours. For example, if your co-worker enjoys the outdoors and is moving to a new area to start her next job, get her a book of hiking trails or a manual for identifying local plants in her new environs. A subscription to a local magazine in her new home also makes a nice gift. If your co-worker is leaving work for a change in lifestyle, such as having a child, taking care of children at home or retiring, find a book or other gift that pertains to her new lifestyle.
