Straw Hat Snowman
This completed straw hat craft is a creative winter decoration. You can use white acrylic or spray paint to paint the entire outside of a straw hat white. Once the hat is dry, create a snowman's face in the centre of the hat by making a coal smile and eyes with black acrylic paint and a carrot nose with orange acrylic paint. Make earmuffs for the snowman by gluing large coloured pom-poms to each side of the snowman's face. A piece of yarn, in a colour that matches the pom-poms, is attached with glue on top of the snowman's head, from one pom-pom to the other--creating a band for the ear muffs.
This straw hat craft is ideal for use as an Easter decoration. You can paint a straw hat white or leave it in its original colour. From white construction paper or craft foam, you'll need to cut out two oval shapes. Then cut two more ovals out of pink construction paper or craft foam that are slightly smaller than the first two white ovals. The pink ovals should be glued inside the white ovals--using tacky craft glue or a glue gun and hot glue--to create bunny ears. Then glue the ears next to each other on the brim of the hat.
Two white pom-poms glued in the centre of the hat serve as the bunny's cheeks. You can create a nose by gluing a smaller pink pom-pom above the white pom-poms. Affix three white or black pipe cleaners to either side of the bunny's cheeks, creating the bunny's whiskers. Finish off your bunny by gluing two googly eyes above the nose. You can add a small loop of ribbon glued to the back of the hat for a hanger.
Spring Straw Hat
This floral straw hat is a fun way to welcome spring. You'll need a supply of springtime faux floral, such as lily's and pansies, with their stems cut offf, and some silk butterflies or other small springtime decorations and decorative ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the hat where the base meets the hat's brim, affixing the ribbon with glue. A hot glue gun works best with these materials. Next, place the faux flowers on the hat however you'd like, using glue to secure them. Attach the silk butterflies to the hat with glue, placing them wherever you would like. The completed hat can be hung as a decoration.
