Most careers don't split up couples for long periods, if at all. If you're dating someone who's in the military, though, you might have to go through a period of separation while your boyfriend is deployed overseas. Put some thought into how you and your boyfriend can spend your last days and weeks together before he leaves on deployment.

Memory Lane

A great way to spend the days leading up to your boyfriend's deployment is to revisit some of the places you went when you started dating. Have dinner at the restaurant from your first date, go bowling or play pool like you did when you were first dating and talk about how fun and exciting a time that was. Look great for your guy -- you'll want him to remember these fabulous nights when he's overseas.

Alone Time

While your boyfriend will want to spend plenty of time with his friends and family before he leaves for deployment, snag at least a little alone time for just the two of you. Shut off all distractions, like your phones and television. Spend some downtime sitting by the fireplace, taking a bubble bath together or simply enjoying each other's company and reminiscing.

Write a letter to your guy before he leaves. You can either give this to him to read while you're together or slip it to him right before you part, for him to read on the trip. You can include anything you feel in the letter, from declaring your love for your man to expressing your concerns about his safety. Ideally, you won't want to feel like you left anything unsaid.

The actual activities you do together don't matter nearly as much as the fact that the two of you will be spending time together before a long separation. Do things that you'll both enjoy and bond over, whether it's as simple as hanging out in bed for an entire day or dressing up and dining at a fancy restaurant. When you're out on the town, living it up before having to say goodbye, you'll probably make stops at restaurants, lounges and bars. Be careful about overdoing it on the alcohol, though. Drunk evenings can cause arguments, and these aren't the memories you want to make before you're separated for a long time.
