Usually given by the father to the mother, a push present is a present that is given when the baby is born. The "push" refers to the action the mother makes when birthing the baby. Though, even if the mother goes through a c-section, she has certainly earned a present for carrying the little bundle of joy for nine months.

Engraved Jewelry

Purchase a necklace or bracelet that has charms that can be engraved. You can place the mother's name on one charm, and on the second charm, you can place the baby's name. You can even order a second set of the same jewellery that can be given to the baby as she grows up as a keepsake from the day she was born. The one caveat to this gift is that you have to have settled on the baby name and know the sex so you can have it engraved in time. Another variation of this gift is to purchase a locket to dangle from the necklace or bracelet. You can place a picture of the mother inside, and then after printing a picture of the baby, place her picture inside that locket as well.

Rocking or Nursery Chair

Purchase a special rocking chair or comfortable chair the mother can use while breast feeding or bottle feeding the baby inside the nursery. Some chairs will require delivery or assembly; therefore, purchase the chair ahead of time and have it shipped to a friend's or relative's home where you can put it together and store it until the mother is ready for delivery. Then, when she goes in the hospital, ask the friend to bring over the chair. She will be happily surprised when she returns home with the baby.

Photo Book

Having a baby is a huge commitment that takes a lot of planning, not to mention the mommy goes through a physical transformation while carrying the child. Take a lot of pictures along the way, from painting the nursery, to assembling the nursery furniture and to attending doctor's appointments with your wife. Then, create a photo book for her to enjoy using images to tell the story of getting ready for the baby over the last nine months. Leave the last few pages blank so you can add pictures from the birth of the baby.

High-End Diaper Bag

Having a baby means you and your wife will be carrying around a lot of extra stuff when you go out the door or travel. If your wife is someone who appreciates designer purses and bags, get a designer diaper bag in which she can place all of the baby's supplies. Depending on the material, you can also have the diaper bag monogrammed with both your wife's and the baby's initials.
