Now that you are engaged, it is time to share the news with friends and relatives. Customarily, newly engaged couples send out engagement announcements as their formal way of spreading the word to everyone at the same time. Engagement announcements come in a variety of styles, and couples have the option of writing their announcement themselves. Do something original by coming up with a cute way to write your announcements that best represent you as a couple.

Many couples choose to write cute poems as their engagement announcements. For example, "Roses are red, violets are blue, Stacy said yes, and soon we'll say 'I do,' " or "Our love for each other is finally uncaged, we're glad to announce that we just got engaged!" Keep poems simple and limited to a couple of lines. Cute poems that drone on risk losing their cuteness.

Comic Book Style

For the newly engaged couple that has an appreciation for media or digital design, a comic book-style engagement announcement is ideal. To create this type of announcement, a selection of photos are put together in an order that tells the engagement story. Once you have the images selected, use a photo editing program to make text bubbles over your heads that contain brief phrases. The male character might have a text bubble that says "I must marry her," while the female character's text bubble says "When will he ever propose?" At the end of the short story, the couple gets engaged and they have the same thought bubble that says "We're Engaged."

From the Parents

Some couples write their engagement announcements in the same style as the wedding invitations are written, which is from the parents. A cute idea is to find engagement announcements that say "Mr. and Mrs. Smith are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Julia, to Mr. Steve Reynolds." This is a formal approach, but is ideal for the couple that wants to hold onto tradition and keep all of their wedding affairs classic. Keep in mind that varying circumstances, such as parental divorces, affect how to properly write engagement announcements from the parents.

YES Pins

Tell the world about your engagement by sending out pins for people to wear that say "She said YES!" Chances are nobody will wear the pin, but they will think the idea is cute and save the pin as a keepsake. To make sure the recipients of your engagement announcement know both names of the couple, put your names in smaller font on the bottom of the pin.
