Resume objectives for a personal assistant job

Personal assistants perform a wide range of duties. They may help a business professional keep his home in running order by picking up kids or by performing Internet searches for his business. Due to the variety of duties a personal assistant may have, it is important that a personal assistant's resume objective highlight her specific skills and the type of job she wants.


Write your resume objective to be short. It should be under three lines of text, but this gives you ample room to describe your talents and skills as well as say a bit about your experience as a personal assistant.


Briefly describe your experience in your resume objective. For example, you may write, "Experienced nanny, housekeeper and administrative assistant seeks position as personal assistant in an active and dynamic household." You might also say, "I seek a position as a personal assistant that will utilise my extensive experience as a vegetarian cook and serving those with physical and mental disabilities." Include the number of years of experience you have in a particular occupation related to personal assisting or related to a certain skill you have.

Type of Job

Include information about what type of person or family you want to serve. Write whether you want to work for a single professional or for a family with children for whom you might provide care on an occasional basis. You can also include the type of cooking, client interactions, travel arrangements, shopping and other tasks you can do or have done as a personal assistant in the past. An example of a personal assistant resume objective from the website Personal Assistant Pro states, "To provide professional Personal Assistant services to a professional or executive family and to assist in managing household and professional affairs in promoting a balanced life for the client."


Emphasise what you can do for an employer, not what he can do for you. For example, you would write that you seek a position where you can use your organizational skills to help an individual keep track of her appointments, not that you want a personal assistant job that has health insurance or tuition reimbursement.
