When your baby is sick, it can be hard to know exactly what to do to help. However, if she is showing symptoms you have something to go on when it comes to trying to help her feel better. Going to the drugstore can be a nightmare of overwhelming medications, especially for infants. Compared to over the counter medications, home remedies end up being less expensive and aren't harmful. It doesn't hurt to try home remedies first since there are virtually no side effects. Rice water home remedies for babies have been found to have more than one use.

Diarrhoea is classified as frequent watery stools, often with cramps, abdominal pain and gas. If your baby is suffering from it, rice water can be an effective treatment. You will need 1 cup of rice, boiled in 3 cups of water for approximately 15 minutes. After you boil it, pour the water in a cup allowing it to cool. Have your baby drink 113gr. every four hours until symptoms are gone; however, relief should start within an hour. If you have rice flour, you can simplify this remedy by dissolving equal parts of rice flour in water and administering the same amount as often as you would with the water from the boiled rice.

Babies are often victims to eczema, a form of dermatitis. Eczema is a rash that boils over, and can be extremely itchy. The most common treatment for eczema is using a topical hydrocortisone cream. However, if you are worried about putting a cream on your baby, a remedy with rice may be your solution. By taking a cup or two of rice starch and putting it in lukewarm water, you can use it as a bath. Oils in rice properties moisturise the skin, and soothe the dry itchy patches of eczema.

If your baby has a fever, rice water can help bring it down. Rice porridge is something easy and quick to make. Take a handful of rice and blend it in the mixer just slightly. Then, boil the rice with 2 to 3 cups of water until the rice is cooked. Strain the water from the rice and have your baby drink it in small increments until all of it is gone.

It is important to be cautious if you haven't given your baby much rice in the past. Although rice is often recommended as one of the first foods you should give to your baby, a lot of babies have rice allergies. If you have noticed that your baby is allergic to other grains such as barley and oats, there is a good chance she is allergic to rice as well. Some symptoms of a rice allergy include a bloated stomach, stomach aches, rashes, vomiting, diarrhoea and, in extreme cases, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing. If your baby's conditions worsen or don't get better, take her to see the doctor.
