Craft Stores

Various craft stores, as well as some department stores, carry letter appliqués that can be sewn onto existing projects by hand or via a sewing machine. Products may be found in packs or purchased individually.

There are a vast number of online retailers that create letters used for sewing onto fabric crafts. They range from individual retailers to auction sites and craft sites.

Create Your Own

With some creativity and a few sewing supplies, you can create your own letter appliqués. Find a letter design by either drawing by hand or downloading letter patterns. Trace the letters onto the smooth side of a piece of fusible webbing, cut it out carefully and iron it to the wrong side of the fabric you'd like to use for the appliqué. Cut the letters out and peel the web paper from the fabric, place the web side down onto your craft project and iron. Sew using a zigzag stitch on a tight setting around each letter.
