The Dell Latitude D630 laptop contains a SIM card slot, like that of a cell phone, so you can connect to wireless 3G networks on your computer as you travel. The SIM card slot is located in the battery compartment, behind the battery; accessing it lets you install or remove a SIM card as part of your wireless 3G subscription. You must unlock the battery compartment cover before you can connect your SIM card.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Shut down the computer. Disconnect the power cable and any other peripherals. Close the screen and flip the laptop upside down.

  2. 2

Move the battery latch sliders in opposite directions. Lift the battery up and out of the computer.

  3. 3

Slide your SIM card into the slot so the metal tabs contact the connections on the card. The cutaway corner of the SIM card faces away from the slot.

  4. 4

Push the battery back into its slot; the sliders click into place. Re-connect the power cord and any other external devices.
