Press the "Menu" key.
Use the 5-way navigational key to select "Settings".
Press the "Menu" key again once the Settings menu displays.
Use the 5-way navigational key to select "Restart". The Kindle DX screen will display that it is resetting itself.
If Device is Responsive
Plug your Kindle DX into a wall outlet using the power cord. Do not use the Universal Serial Bus (USB) port of your computer as this will not allow the Kindle DX to reset. The charging light should turn on when the Kindle DX is plugged into the outlet. You will see an amber light while the device is charging.
Allow the Kindle DX to charge for at least two minutes.
Slide the power switch to the right and hold it in place for at least 15 seconds. The Kindle DX screen will display a message that it is restarting itself.
