Netflix is an enormously successful company that allows subscribers to rent movies by mail and over the Internet. The company currently offers no management tools for deleting or editing your viewing history. There is no way to delete your history short of cancelling and then reopening your account. Even then, Netflix continues to maintain a record of your viewing history, prompting a number of lawsuits in 2011 that charged the company with violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.
Log in to your account and click on the "Your Account & Help" option.
In the "Account Information" section at the top of the page, click "Cancel Membership," read the terms and accept them, then click "Complete Cancellation."
Sign up for a new Netflix account but use a new e-mail address, username and password. If for some reason you need or want to use the same e-mail address, call the company after cancelling and request to have your e-mail address disabled.
Keep your new Netflix password to yourself and log out after every viewing in order to keep your viewing history private.
Netflix doesn't offer partial refunds, so cancel at the very end of a billing month.
