Many models of the GeForce GTS 250 come with either two DVI monitor ports or one VGA and one DVI port, allowing you to operate your computer using two monitors. If your work requires you to have multiple windows open, you may split the windows into two monitors, allowing your workflow to go through much faster. The workflow advantage may save you plenty of time. If your monitors have a blue VGA connector at the end of their video cables, you must get as many DVI-VGA adaptors as you have DVI ports in your card.

  1. 1

Connect a DVI-VGA adaptor to each DVI port that you need to connect a VGA monitor to. DVI connectors and ports look like long rectangles while VGA connectors and ports appear as a small trapezoidal shape, usually blue in colour. If you have two monitors, for example, that use VGA connectors while you have a GTS 250 with one DVI and one VGA port, you must connect one DVI-VGA adaptor to the DVI port in the card. You do not need to connect an adaptor where you must connect a DVI monitor to a DVI port.

  2. 2

Connect both your monitors to their respective ports or the protruding end of the adaptors you installed.

  3. 3

Start up your computer and wait until it finishes loading.

  4. 4

Right-click an empty space in your desktop and click "Personalize."

  5. 5

Click "Display" on the bottom left of the personalisation window. Click "Change display settings" on the top left corner.

  6. 6

Click the monitor you would like to configure as the main display. Select "Extend these displays" under "Multiple displays" and select "Make this my main display."
