Lestoil is a heavy duty grease and stain remover manufactured by The Clorox Company. It can be used to clean counters, floors, walls, appliances, laundry and cement. Lestoil's defining characteristic is its pine scent, which comes from pine oil. While pine oil does contribute to Lestoil's cleaning power, the main ingredients, petroleum distillates, are what really works to break up grease and oil. Petroleum distillates are refined from crude oil, after which they are used as a surfactant, to break up oils in many household detergents.

Clean Counters, Floors, Walls and Appliances

  1. 1

Pour 1/4 cup of Lestoil in the bucket.

  2. 2

Add a gallon of water and stir the mixture.

  3. 3

Mop the floors with the diluted Lestoil and it won't be necessary to rinse the floor. The room will smell like pine while the floors naturally dry.

  4. 4

Use a sponge to wipe down the counter, floors, walls or appliances with diluted Lestoil.

  5. 5

Use a brush an undiluted Lestoil to break up extremely tough stains on most surfaces.

Remove Oil, Grease, Perspiration and Ink Stains From Laundry

  1. 1

Apply Lestoil to the stain with a brush.

  2. 2

Set aside for 5 to 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Wash the garment in the washing machine as you regularly would. Use the highest recommended water temperature setting listed on the garment.

Use in the Garage and Outdoors

  1. 1

Pour undiluted Lestoil onto the surface.

  2. 2

Brush the Lestoil into the stained areas.

  3. 3

Immediately rinse the Lestoil from the surface with a hose.

Tips and warnings

  • Wear rubber gloves if you plan on working with Lestoil for an extended period of time.
  • Do not use Lestoil on wood floors. The pine oil can discolour them.
  • Do not use Lestoil on wool or silk fabrics.
  • Do not allow Lestoil to be rinsed into storm sewers, streams, rivers or lakes. It is a pollutant.
