Windows Live Messenger, also known as MSN Messenger, is an instant messaging tool preinstalled on the Windows 7 operating system. You can use MSN Messenger for text messaging and also for voice and video messaging. Some conversations you have using MSN Messenger are important and need to be saved. Luckily, MSN automatically puts all conversations into folders on your hard drive that you can retrieve through My Computer.
Open MSN Instant Messenger through the icon on your desktop or click "Start," "All Programs" and "MSN Messenger."
Click "Show Menu" at the top of the screen. Click "Tools" and then click "Options."
Click "Messages" and then "Message History." Note where it shows the folder name and the path where the conversations are saved. For example, it may say something like "C:\Program Files\My Documents."
Open "My Computer" by clicking "Start," and then click "My Computer." Click the "Hard Disk (C:)," and then navigate to the location from the previous step where the MSN conversation is saved. Double-click the folder you want to open and view the contents of the conversation.
