Karndean International is a United Kingdom vinyl flooring manufacturer. The company specialises in designing textured PVC tiles that look like natural materials. Karndean floors are for commercial and home use. They include five options, most of which are named after famous painters -- da Vinci, Renoir, and Michelangelo, for example. Their life expectancy ranges from 12 to 20 years under normal use. Karndean International also produces cleaning products for its flooring, designed to prevent damage to the surface.

  1. 1

Sweep the floor with a soft-bristled broom to remove dust and small debris following installation and as part of the routine care.

  2. 2

Put rubber gloves on. Blend 1 part of Karndean Basic Stripper with 5 parts of water in a bucket 24 hours after installing the flooring. Drench a mop in the solution and wash the floor, leaving the surface wet. Wait up to five minutes while the product loosens any residue of the adhesive used to install the floor. Before the surface dries, scrub it with the blue applicator that came with the basic stripper. Dampen the applicator's green pad with water first. Soak up the basic stripper off the flooring with a damp mop. Fill a bucket with water and rinse the floor with a mop. Let it air dry before walking on it.

  3. 3

Mix 1 qt. of Karndean Routine Cleaner with 3 qt. of cold water. Dip your mop in the bucket. Squeeze it and wipe your floor for regular maintenance. Let the vinyl air dry before walking on it.

Tips and warnings

  • Karndean Basic Stripper also works for removing scuff marks.
