How to Make a Queen Esther Costume

Updated February 21, 2017

Queen Esther is one of the heroes of the Jewish holiday of Purim. Esther was married to the Persian king Ahasuerus. When Mordecai, Esther's relative, overheard guards plotting to kill the king, he told Esther, who in turn told Ahasuerus. Haman, one of the king's advisers, wished to kill all the Jews in Persia because Mordecai (who was Jewish) would not bow before him. Esther risked her life by appearing before the king without being summoned to reveal Haman's plot. The king had Haman and his sons killed and the Jewish people were saved from the plot.

Put on the dress of your choice. Because Queen Esther is a popular costume among young girls, a white or pink party dress is often the clothing of choice. For a more regal look, wear blue or purple.

Pin your hair up in a brooch.

Put on a plastic tiara and accentuate your costume with other costume jewellery.

Put on light make-up to accentuate your regal look. Apply eye shadow, pink lipstick or glitter. For a simpler look, leave the make-up off.
