How to Reset the Maintenance Light on a 2008 Honda Accord

Updated February 21, 2017

The 2008 Honda Accord tracks driving conditions with an on-board computer that determines when routine maintenance needs to be performed. When the computer determines it is time for service, a maintenance light is illuminated on the instrument panel. After the service has been completed, such as an engine oil and filter change, the maintenance light needs to be reset so the computer can accurately calculate when the next maintenance service should occur.

Turn the ignition switch in your 2008 Honda Accord to the "On" position.

Press and release the "Select/Reset" knob until the engine oil life indicator displays.

Press and hold the "Select/Reset" knob for approximately 10 seconds until the maintenance light starts to blink.

Press and hold the "Select/Reset" knob for about five seconds until the maintenance light resets and the engine oil life indicator changes to "100."
