The Coolsat Platinum 5000 is a digital free-to-air satellite receiver that allows you to pick up programming from all over the world that is not scramble-protected. Scramble-protected programs are stations you receive from high-end cable and satellite pay-to-use packages. In order to receive the latest TV stations, you must program the Coolsat Platinum 5000 receiver yourself.

  1. 1

Power down your Coolsat Platinum 5000 receiver. You cannot program the content initially while the hardware is turned on.

  2. 2

Navigate to the Coolsat receiver's manufacturing website, then choose the Platinum 5000 as the receiver model you are using.

  3. 3

Select the download link next to the FTA file to obtain the latest satellite file information.

  4. 4

Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract." Click "Next" when the extract application loads to extract the data files.

  5. 5

Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on the computer. Remove any file you currently have saved on the flash drive as it must be blank to perform the programming. Click "Start," "Computer" and double-click the USB flash drive icon. Once the window opens click-and-drag the extracted data into the window.

  6. 6

Disconnect the flash drive from the computer and plug it into the USB port on the Coolsat Platinum 5000. Power on the receiver; the programming files upload directly to the receiver.
