Installing an aftermarket stereo is the first step in installing a custom sound system in your Hyundai vehicle, but can also be a great change if you still have an old factory stereo that does not have a CD player. The hardest part of the installation process is wiring the stereo into your vehicle's pre-existing wiring.

Instructions

  1. 1

Remove the old factory stereo from the dashboard. If you are unsure of how to do this, seek professional help.

  2. 2

Disconnect the factory stereo's quick connector from the vehicles quick connector. The quick connector is a small block of plastic interrupting the wires. The connectors are held together by a simple clasp. Lift up the clasp and pull one connector from the other.

Connect the constant power wire on your new stereo to the brown wire on your Hyundai's quick connector with a wire cap.

Connect the power wire (usually red) of your new stereo to the red wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  5. 5

Connect the positive front right speaker wire of the new stereo to the dark green/yellow wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  6. 6

Connect the negative front right speaker wire of the new stereo to the light green/yellow wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  7. 7

Connect the positive front left speaker wire of the new stereo to the dark green/black wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  8. 8

Connect the negative front left speaker wire of the new stereo to the light green/black wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  9. 9

Connect the positive rear right speaker wire of the new stereo to the dark green/red wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  10. 10

Connect the negative rear right speaker wire of the new stereo to the light green/red wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  11. 11

Connect the positive rear left speaker wire of the new stereo to the dark green/white wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  12. 12

Connect the negative rear left speaker wire of the new stereo to the light green/white wire of the quick connector with a wire cap.

  13. 13

Connect the quick connector to the vehicle's connector by firmly pushing it into place until the clasp locks.

  14. 14

Mount the new stereo into the vehicle's dash.
