Things you need
- Thick stock white paper or poster board
- Black pen or marker
Cut out a piece of paper 6 inches tall and 5 inches in width. Use poster board or thick stock paper, which will make your card sturdier. Make sure the paper doesn't have a gloss on it though, as this won't take fingerprint ink well.
Measure a line going across the width of the card 2 inches from the top, then measure 2 inches below that line and draw another line. You should now have three 2-inch-thick rows going across your card.
Measure a line from the bottom of the paper and 1 inch from the left edge, and stop before the last 2-inch row atop your paper. Draw another vertical line an inch to the right of the first vertical line and repeat two more times. You should now have a blank row at the top and two rows of five boxes each underneath.
Write down the name of the person being fingerprinted, plus his address, phone number, social security number, height, age, weight, sex and birthday in the blank row at the top of the fingerprint card. Also include any pertinent health information, such as if the person is diabetic.
Label each of the boxes to correspond with each finger in small lettering in the bottom area of each box. For example, starting with the first box in the top row from the left, write "R-THUMB" or "R-T" for the box where your right thumbprint will go. Continue from left to right in sequence of your fingers, for example "R-THUMB," "R-INDEX," "R-MIDDLE," "R-RING," "R-PINKY." Repeat this step in the row of boxes below using the letter L to denote the left hand.
Tips and warnings
- After applying your or your child's fingerprints to the card, prevent smudging of the prints by laminating the card, or spraying it with some heavy hold hairspray.
