How to use a tablet with a smart board

With the increasing use of tablets and the creation of new software to create presentations on a tablet, there is an increasing need for technology to share these presentations. Smart Boards have been used in this capacity for some time now, but the need for tablet compatibility is a somewhat new dilemma. Luckily, hooking your tablet up to be projected on a Smart Board is no more difficult than connecting with a laptop.

Plug in your projector.

Plug in your Smart Board.

Hook up the VGA cable to the back of the projector.

Plug the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter into your tablet.

Connect the VGA cable to the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter.

Turn on the projector.

Turn on the tablet.

Adjust the input settings on your projector until you see your tablet projected on the screen.


This is the most basic set-up for projecting with a Smart Board and a tablet. Consult your Smart Board owner's manual for Bluetooth settings.

  • Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
  • VGA cord with male ends
  • Smart Board
  • Smart Board power cord
