Ares is a P2P file-sharing program that users can download for free online enabling them to download audio, software, videos, Word documents, images and other forms of media. Users can upload their media files on Ares for sharing purposes. Proxy users can connect to a proxy server via Ares. A proxy server allows users to filter web traffic, such as bypassing parental controls and security controls. A proxy server can also block websites for restriction. Using a proxy server is useful since proxy servers allow anonymity. You can use proxy with Ares by configuring the settings in the program.

Skill level:

  1. 1

    Launch Ares.

  2. 2

Click "Control Panel" from the toolbar.

  3. 3

    Click the "Network" tab.

  4. 4

Click "Use Socks 4 proxy" or "Use Socks 5 proxy" in the "Proxy" section. Socks 4 proxy allows access to firewalls via a TCP connection. Socks 5 proxy allows access via IPv4 or IPv6.

  5. 5

Enter your proxy server address, username and password and then click "Check Connection." The proxy server address is a set of numbers, for example, 66.123.4567, or other combinations. If successful, Ares connects you to your proxy server.
