How to Update the BIOS on an HP 6930P Laptop PC

Updated July 20, 2017

HP's EliteBook 6930p notebook PC is a business-class laptop that comes with Windows Vista. Like most laptops, HP releases updated BIOS files for the 6930p. BIOS updates fix hardware bugs and sometimes add support for new hardware. A computer's BIOS is the program that runs before Windows when the computer boots, initialising the computer's hardware and performing basic system checking. HP provides a downloadable tool for updating your HP 6930p laptop's BIOS.

Open the HP EliteBook 6930p downloads web page (see Resources).

Click your operating system in the list.

Click "BIOS."

Click the "Download" button to the right of "HPQFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS -- Microsoft Windows Based."

Download the file by clicking "Save" in your Web browser.

Double-click the downloaded .exe file on your computer.

Click "Yes" if the user account control prompt appears.

Click "Next" twice.

Follow the HP BIOS update program's instructions on your screen.

Restart your computer when prompted by clicking "Start," hovering the mouse over the arrow at the bottom-right corner of the Start menu and clicking "Restart."
