How to cook quaker oatmeal

Quaker oatmeal is a classic breakfast choice. It is rich in fibre and can be sweetened easily with brown sugar, maple syrup and honey. Quaker oats are easy to cook and just require boiling water and adding the toppings of your choice, such as raisins, coconut or nuts. Pair Quaker oatmeal with some cooked eggs and a glass of orange juice for a balanced, healthy breakfast.

  • Regular or Instant Quaker Oats
  • Pot

    Preparing Quaker Oats

  1. 1

    Fill a pot with water. Use one cup for one serving of oats, 1 3/4 cups for two servings or 2 1/2 cups of water for three servings of oats.

    Put the pot on the stove and bring to a boil.

    Add oats to the boiling water. For one serving add 1/2 cup of oats, for two servings add 3/4 cup of oats and for three servings add 1 1/2 cups of oats.

    Cook over medium heat for five minutes.

    Stir the oats every so often to keep them from getting too sticky.

    Remove from heat and serve.

    Pour 1/2 cup of oats into a microwave-safe bowl.

    Add one cup of water to the oats.

  3. 3

    Microwave on high for 1.5 to 2 minutes.

    Stir oats before serving.
