Services are available that can custom make moulded earbuds, but they can be expensive. Knowing how to make your own moulded earbuds can make for a great portable personal audio experience with headphones tailored just for you.

  • Custom earplug kit
  • Earbud headphones
  • Hobby knife

    Remove any foam rubber covers from the earbud headphones.

    Mix the two types of putty included with the custom earplug kit. Refer to manufacturer instructions for the correct amount to mix.

    Press half the mixed putty into each ear.

  4. 4

    Press the earbud headphones into the putty in your ear as you would normally wear them. Allow the putty to completely cure according to manufacturer instructions.

  5. 5

    Remove the fully cured putty and earbuds from your ears. The putty will have adhered to the earbuds.

  6. 6

    Cut away the putty with a hobby knife to expose the earbud soundholes.

  7. 7

    Cut away any rough edges or excess putty from the earbuds with a hobby knife.
