How to Create Your Own Free Favor Labels for a Baby Shower
Create gift tags for baby shower party favours with clear mailing labels. (baby present image by lidian neeleman from Fotolia.com)

Show your baby shower guests you appreciate their presence with festive party favours. Party favours can be keepsakes or perishable items such as cookies or chocolate. Distinguish your items with a label or tag that highlights the occasion. If guests want to keep your favour as memorabilia, they will never forget the date or style of occasion as long as your label is attached. Choose a clear mailing label to create your favour labels because they are easy to match with a variety of surface colours.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open your word processor. From the top menu bar, choose "Mailings," then "Labels" from the sub menu.

  2. 2

Select "Options." Click a mailing label template number from the list. That number usually is on the outside of the mailing label package. Click "OK." If there is no template number, click "New Label" to enter the dimensions of your label manually. Click "OK."

  3. 3

Type in the details of your event, including the name of the event, date and time into the Envelopes and Labels dialogue box. You want guests to remember the specifics of the baby shower, so use the full date such as month, day and year on your label.

  4. 4

Customise your label design with colours, pictures and font styles by selecting all label cells while making each change. If there is a theme for the baby shower, be sure the label reflects the colour scheme and style of the event.

  5. 5

Resize the images so that they are small enough to fit beside the text on your label. Dark colours show up best on clear labels, so choose images with clearly defined lines and shapes in purple, black, brown or dark blue.

  6. 6

Click "File" the "Print" to create your labels. Pull the adhesive mailing labels from the sheets and apply them to your party favours. If you have a favour that a sticker cannot be placed on, such as a cupcake or jewellery, turn your label into a gift tag. Cut out a small rectangle of white card stock the size of your label. Affix your mailing label to the card stock. Tape the gift tag to a toothpick and insert it into the cupcake. Or thread the gift tag with needle and ribbon to tie to an object.

Tips and warnings

  • Avoid applying clear labels to uneven surfaces because the label may wrinkle. If the label is not firmly applied to the surface, the adhesive will dry out, causing the label to fall off.
