Corn on the cob is a nutritious, tasty side dish or snack that you can easily grill, bake, microwave, boil or cook in a pressure cooker. Cooking frozen corn cobs is not much different than cooking fresh corn, though it takes a little longer. You don't even have to thaw frozen corn cobs before cooking, but you can always place them in the fridge in the morning or in the microwave for a few minutes to reduce cook time.
Rub butter and/or sprinkle salt, pepper or other seasonings of your choice over each frozen corn cob while the grill heats up.
Wrap each corn cob individually in a sheet of aluminium foil and place it on the grill.
Grill the corn cobs for 25 to 35 minutes to allow them to both thaw and cook. Keep the grill lid closed except to occasionally turn the corn cobs.
Preheat the oven to 218 degrees Celsius.
Rub butter and/or sprinkle salt, pepper or other seasonings of your choice over each frozen corn cob.
Wrap each corn cob individually in a sheet of aluminium foil and place it on the upper rack of your oven. Place an oven-safe dish on the lower rack in case butter drips out of the foil.
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes until thoroughly cooked.
Place frozen corn cobs in a microwave-safe dish, add 1/4 cup water and cover with cling film, or wrap each corn cob individually in damp paper towels. Leave a small opening for steam to escape if covering corn cobs in a microwave-safe dish.
Microwave two to three corn cobs on high heat for approximately four to six minutes or until thoroughly cooked. Heat four to five corn cobs for approximately eight to 10 minutes.
Rub butter and/or sprinkle salt, pepper or other seasonings of your choice over each cooked corn cob.
Pour one cup of water into the pressure cooker.
Place frozen corn cobs in the steamer basket and put it in the pressure cooker so that it sits just above the water.
Place the pressure cooker on the stove over medium-high heat until it comes up to pressure.
Cook the corn cobs for four to five minutes over medium heat.
Release the pressure quickly, remove corn, and butter and season as desired.
Pour cold water into a pot large enough to fit your frozen corn cobs. Use just enough water to completely cover the corn cobs.
Bring water to a boil and place the corn cobs into the pot.
Boil the corn cobs for five to seven minutes or until thoroughly cooked. Carefully remove corn cobs with a pair of tongs, and butter and season as desired.
You can season corn with a variety of spices and herbs, including oregano, thyme, red pepper and chilli powder.
Avoid overcooking frozen corn cobs, as overcooking will cause them to dry out. Salting corn cobs during the cooking process draws moisture out of the corn, so always salt before or after cooking.
