Terra cotta cookware can be used for making bread and other baked items. It's also versatile enough for the hob and microwave. The earthen clay cookware has been used for centuries by civilisations all over the globe. Modern terra cotta cookware is manufactured slightly differently today than in centuries past, but has the same cooking qualities. Both glazed and unglazed terra cotta pans for bread making should be seasoned before their initial use.

Instructions

    Immerse the pan completely in water and let it soak for 2-4 hours.

    Remove the pan from the water and wipe dry.

    Rub the pan with vegetable oil and coat entirely.

    Place the pan in a 250-degree oven and bake until the oil is dry.

    Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool completely.

    Repeat Steps 2-5 three times.
