If you spill milk or any food that contains milk on your car carpet, you must move quickly to try to remove the fresh stain. If you do not attempt to clean and remove the stain, you may face a sour milk odour as a result of the untreated stain. Sour milk odour can make driving or even sitting in your car uncomfortable. Luckily, you can still remove sour milk odour days after the stain has already set.

Remove any remaining liquid using a paper towel or sponge.

Sprinkle the area with baking powder until it covers the area.

Sprinkle water on the baking powder and moisten the area.

Let baking powder and water dry completely. This may take overnight.

Loosen the dried baking powder and vacuum.

Treat the area with lemon juice if you can still smell the sour milk. Spray area with lemon juice.

Let stand for 15 minutes before blotting with a paper towel.
