How to Reset the Service Light on a 2006 VW Passat

Updated July 20, 2017

Maintenance indicator lights are an important part of a car's warning indication system. A car needs periodic service to keep it running at its full potential. Every time the car is serviced, the indicator light needs resetting to accurately determine when the next service is due. You can reset the light in just a few steps.

Close all doors and put the key in the ignition.

Press down and hold the reset button located near the odometer.

Turn the key of the ignition to the "On" position while still pressing down the odometer reset button.

When the service indicator (wrench shaped light) light turns on, press and release the minute adjusting button while still holding the odometer button down.

Release the odometer button.
