As a person ages it's common for her hair to turn grey. Often a person wants to try to disguise their true age and appear younger. In order to do so she needs to colour her hair. Highlighting colours only specific hairs instead of dying the entire head of hair. Highlighting is typically less expensive than dying and prevents chemicals from being absorbed into the scalp.

Peel potatoes. Regular old brown potatoes work just fine.
Fill a pot with water and set to a boil. Once boiling, drop in potato peels. Boil for a five to 10 minutes.
Remove the potato peels from the boiling water and throw away. Remove the pot from heat. Let the water cool for at least 10 minutes.
Wash your hair in the shower or tub as normal using your daily shampoo. Use the potato-peel water as an after shampoo rinse in your hair. Let set for five minutes before gently rinsing. The potato-peel water should activate enzymes in your hair to naturally darken the hair.
Purchase an at-home highlighting kit. Read the instructions carefully before beginning to highlight the hair.
Cover the head with a clear plastic shower cap with several small holes. Pull the hair through the holes.
Apply the paste-like bleaching substance as directed. Let the solution set for the recommended time.
Carefully remove the cap and wash your hair.
Go to a salon to have your hair highlighted.
Separate hair into small sections. Pull out a few strands of hair and paint the hairs with bleach or hair colouring and wrap a piece of foil around the strands. Continue until all grey is covered.
Let bleach set for 30 minutes. Once done, remove the foil and wash hair with a colour-safe shampoo.
Cut and style hair into desired appearance.
