Updated February 21, 2017

CCTV cameras have become popular thanks to their affordability and an increasingly crime-conscious society. They can be installed in the home and connected to monitors in a monitoring centre, which in a house can be a television set. Connecting a CCTV camera to a television set is easy and requires little skill or technical know-how.

Connect one end of the composite video cable to the "Video Out" jack of the CCTV camera. This typically is on the back of the camera and will have a yellow ring around it.

Connect the other end of the composite video cable to the "Video In" jack of the television set, also on the back with a yellow ring.

Turn on the camera and the television set.

Set the television to its proper video channel. This is typically the lowest channel on the television, or can be accessed by pressing "Source" or "Input" on the television or its remote. The image from the camera be on the television screen.

If you wish to record the images from the CCTV camera, put a VCR between the television and the camera. Do this by connecting the" Video Out" of the camera to the "Video In" of the VCR, then connecting the "Video Out" jack of the VCR to the "Video In" jack of the television.
