How to Monitor Modem Activity

Monitoring the activity of a modem is something that all computer users should know how to do. If you know exactly what your modem is doing you can know how to fix an error if one arises with your Internet connection. You can also know exactly how fast your modem is operating, letting you know if you're getting the speed you were promised by your Internet service provider. Monitoring the activity of a modem can be done through the Network and Sharing Center.

Click "Start."

Click "Control Panel."

Click "Network and Sharing Center."

Click "Change Adapter Settings."

Right click on the icon for your modem. Select the "Status" option. The window that opens will have constantly updating information relating to the current activity of your computer's modem.
