Lamp timers can be useful in a variety of circumstances. You can use a lamp timer for an added security measure by setting the timer to turn the lamp on when the house is vacant and make it seem like someone is home. You can also use a lamp timer to make lights turn on when you wake up, to make lights turn on when it begins to get dark outside, etc.
